DO YOU FIND IT DIFFICULT TO REMEMBER LONG & COMPLICATED PASSWORDS?
You would have heard from us how important it is to use passwords that are difficult for hackers to guess. In the past, we have provided tips on how to make your passwords unique, such as recommending you scrap your “master password” for a “master passphrase”. A password that is 9 characters in length can be cracked in 5 days whereas a password that is 12 characters would take 2000 years to crack. “Orange Keyboard Makes Lime” is a stronger password than “Alk6d^!%9’. We also recommend you do not use a “master password” for all of your accounts.
With all of these complicated, and difficult to remember “passphrases” we are recommending you use for every log in, you might be wondering, “How am I supposed to remember all of these unique and detailed passwords?”
The answer is LastPass, a freemium password manager that stores all of your encrypted passwords online, and syncs across all your Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices.
LastPass is easy to install, simply download the extension instantly form the browser you are currently using. When setting up, it is vital that you choose a strong master password as this is what will be keeping all your other passwords safe.
Once installed, LastPass will prompt you to save your log in details for each new secure site that you log into and then going forward, it will automatically fill in your credentials when you revisit a site.
Is LastPass safe?
LastPass is very secure. All passwords stored are encrypted. LastPass was hacked in 2015, and while the hackers gained access to the LastPass servers, they did not gain access to any passwords. This is because without your master password, all passwords saved remain encrypted.
Can I Use LastPass for my business?
LastPass offers 2 subscription services suitable for business, LastPass Teams and LastPass Enterprise.
LastPass Teams is suited best to business with 50 or less employees while LastPass Enterprise offers more options such as directory integrations, custom security policies and more.
