Do you know what your IT is really costing you?
Poorly managed IT is costing your business more than just money.
Most businesses don’t have the time to worry about their IT, and why should they? In between busy rush hour periods, endless paperwork and responding to emails / phone calls, the last thing businesses need to be focusing their time on is software updates and hardware upgrades. Which is why it is vital to choose the right IT support and to ensure that you have a great relationship with your service provider.
The right IT support team can blend in effortlessly with your existing team, working seamlessly in the background to ensure that your IT infrastructure and software are keeping up with your busy business and allowing you to grow. Sarah Neill from Emerald Lakes Golf Club says, “We believe that being on an MSP with QCNS is a great way to have consistency and peace of mind. We know that when we pick up the phone, we will have a person on the other side who understands our business and how important it is to have everything up and running.”
While there are different approaches to managing IT, we at QCNS have used our years of experience to design our Managed Service Packages (MSP) with our customers requirements in mind. Our packages include monthly IT, help desk support and maintenance such as updates, for a set price package per month.
Your businesses computer network is not unlike a human patient, and like a doctor your technician will learn all the intricacies required to have your network running at it’s healthiest. One of the benefits of an MSP is that it prevents any unforeseen complications within your IT infrastructure. The technicians involved in the MSP will take time out to make sure that your computers are up to date, running properly and to strategise and plan for future upgrades and developments. There is nothing worse than having a big project come up and you are ill prepared for it because there’s not enough power in your computer or not enough ports in your switch. By having a dedicated team manage your IT monthly, they can build and design your network to give you the best, long lasting results. As Steve from Coolangatta Surf Club says, “Chris and his team take a “get to the source” approach and look to fix problems properly. There is a no band-aid approach from these guys. QCNS also work extremely well with our other suppliers / stakeholders and help manage major projects very well. Their communication and follow up is first rate.”
Planning and chipping away at IT requirements can save you money in the long run as there are no lengthy shutdowns where your business needs to stop running. Being on a Managed Service Package (MSP) ensures that you know how much your IT is going to cost you each month. Tammy from Bluefin Fishing Club says that, “being on a monthly plan made it easier for us to budget as it reduced unexpected IT problems with wait time for site visits.”
Our plans can include help desk support so even if you find yourself requiring a lot of helpdesk issues in the one month, your cost outlay remains the same. This is valuable for staff productivity, as they can call one of our technicians as soon as they need assistance, have their issue resolved promptly and then resume their workday.
MSP’s are not suited to all businesses. In some instances, a more reactive IT arrangement will work well, but we find that businesses with more than 3 employees benefit from an MSP and that’s because they’re getting to that point where their businesses are getting busier. They no longer have the time to update their own infrastructure and they are finding they now need to outsource these jobs.
These growing businesses also need to ensure that their business systems are up to date and running efficiently. Their business systems need to be strategised early on and thought about from a higher-level perspective and they need to have a very clear idea on where their IT is going, and what the best way is to proceed. Otherwise they might find that they need to redesign their whole IT infrastructure when they get up to as many as 8 or 10 employees. The earlier that those systems are in place the better it’s going to be and the easier it’s going to be to scale up as their business grows.
Depending on the size of the business and the budget, we have a range of MSP solutions available. Basic packages start by offering updates, monitoring and common application updates such as Adobe and Java and then moving through to packages that offer help desk, phone support and single monthly site visits. We also offer customisable packages which can include unlimited monthly site visits and are designed depending on your requirements. These packages are recommended to businesses with more than 20 employees.
We understand that a lot of businesses, especially clubs, have their busiest periods after hours, or on the weekends. Being on an MSP has the advantage of allowing staff or a duty manager to phone us for weekend assistance (depending on level of cover) without running the risk of upsetting the general manager due to overspending on a weekend call out or requiring assistance during a public holiday or after-hours situation.
Our packages are designed to take the guess work and stress out of managing your IT. When you have a team of dedicated professionals, proactively managing your IT infrastructure you can continue to dedicate your time to running your business. As Tony from Ballina RSL says, “Within IT there are experienced, certified and qualified service providers, and then there are service providers who say they are experienced, certified and qualified. For a business such as ours the distinction is critical and that is why The Club made the decision to outsource its MSP to QCNS as their staff fall into the former category of IT personnel.”
